Director of Student Growth and Innovation(Counseling K-12, Career Development, and Mental Health & Wellness)Overview of Role: The Director of Student Growth and Innovation will serve as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet (DLST). Work directly with the Superintendent, members of the DLST, building and department leadership to support the effective and efficient provision of academic and career counseling for students K-12, and the provision of a comprehensive continuum of mental health services that are aligned with the Profile of a Shenendehowa Graduate, Profile of a Shenendehowa Middle School Student, Profile of a Shenendehowa Elementary Student, and consistent with the district’s Values and Beliefs. Proactively communicate with the Superintendent and members of the District Leadership Support Team (DLST). Provide leadership to assure that applicable laws and regulations are followed. Maintain positive and routine public relations with parents and community groups to provide information and receive feedback. Academic and Career Counseling (55% of Job Focus)Evaluation of effectiveness of K-12 counseling endeavors from an equity and inclusivity lens via qualitative and quantitative data, including, but not limited to course recommendation, course selection, transcripts, etc.Coordinate efforts with building and academic departments leaders to review and revise courses, course progression and pathways in alignment with student interests, expectations, and needs, and in compliance with NYSED laws, rules, and regulations.Oversee the administration of the Student Career Development Center, fostering and facilitating partnerships to provide a comprehensive network of career exposure and experiences lending to the actualization of the Profile of a Shen Graduate.Ensure complete and effective compliance with established instructional policies, protocols and practices. Major Responsibilities and Duties (not all inclusive):Active leadership with principals, Academic Administrators, counselors and teachers to ensure the effective integration of all aspects of the K-12 Counseling Plan.Preserve articulation agreements with institutes of higher education, providing a wide array of dual enrollment, credit bearing or certification opportunities for students.Coordination with members of the 6-12 Counseling Advisory Committee (CAC) to ensure applicability and effectiveness of initiatives, and relevance of overall endeavors.Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for partnerships with business and other career oriented agencies to facilitate opportunities for internships, CEIP, apprenticeships, cooperative work experience, job fairs and job coaching.Collaborate with Academic Administrators, counselors and teachers to embed career skills into curriculum content and classroom activities, including the coordination of teacher externships.Coordinate testing and data analysis for student acceleration and testing placement, and working with teachers to differentiate to meet the needs of identified students. Integration of Social Emotional Learning and Provision of Mental Health Supports (25% of Job Focus)Provide leadership to support the seamless integration of social emotional learning in classroom instruction, grades K-12 in accordance with Section 804 of the Education LawMaintain a close working relationship with school and district-level administrators to ensure coordination and equitable delivery of mental health services and support for students via appropriate school personnel.Coordinate the provision of clinical mental health services and resources to families in collaboration with key district professionals and community partners to promote wellness and behaviors that support healthy lifestyles, community engagement and employment.Work collaboratively with building principals, Academic Administrators, Directors, and Department Supervisors (Public Information, Transportation, Food Service, Special Education) and other stakeholders in developing and maintaining a comprehensive continuum of services and supports for students and families, including being a liaison for students experiencing homelessness and the service provisions provided them under McKinney Vento. Major Responsibilities and Duties (not all inclusive):Active leadership with principals, Academic Administrators, counseling professionals , including but not limited to health educators, support counselors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, teachers and other applicable parties to ensure the effective integration of all aspects of the K-12 Mental Health Plan. provision of services by outside providers.Lead the system integration of mental health supports in classroom instruction, including the coordination of professional development and resource acquisition.Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a vibrant Health and Wellness Committee, providing various services and supports to students and school personnel.Serve as a district representative on assigned school-community collaborations. Administration and Supervision (20% of Job Focus)Provide oversight of district-wide academic summer programs in conjunction with lead administrators and summer program coordinators.Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions.Assist and support applicable employees with improvement initiatives and processes, and provide clear direction for implementation and monitoring of the effectiveness of efforts.Utilize data trends to identify areas of growth and deficiency, and to further define potential outreach or partnernerships, inclusive of grant writing (competitive and non-competitive) to support new and creative opportunities.
