Southold School District is seeking a Treasurer/Payroll position. POSITION:Southold UFSD District Treasurer, reporting directly to the Board of Education.12 Month full time employee appointed by the Board of Education and serves at the pleasure of the Board.Performs work under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent for Business.QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with the laws, regulations, procedures and policies related to school district finances; taxation, banking, investments and interest;Thorough knowledge of methods used in keeping and checking financial records and reports;ability to keep financial records and prepare reports thereon; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; good knowledge of computerized accounting systems, including spreadsheet, database and word processing softwareTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field,with Governmental accounting.2 Years’ experience in maintaining financial accounts and records.WORK RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:Will have the knowledge and experience of Fund Accounting to maintain accurate and detailed records for various school funds (NVision) as prescribed by the Office of the State ComptrollerPrepare bank reconciliations and monthly reports of District's finances to BoardCompute and bill other districts for servicesPrepare monthly cash flow reportsOversee District’s external and claims audits Prepare payroll including submitting payroll taxes and state & federal returnsPrepare journal entries, wire transfers and budget transfersProcess year end closing of the booksPerform special financial projects as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent for BusinessCompensation will commensurate with experience.
