PROBATIONARY FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE TEACHER Grades 7 - 12The Family and Consumer Science program at the Southold Junior-Senior High School empowers students in grades 7 - 12 to manage the challenges of living and working in a diverse global society. The courses are designed to educate students about their present and future responsibilities as family members, consumers, home managers and wage earners. In middle school, Home and Career Skills courses develop students’ essential knowledge and skills required to be successful in one’s personal life, one’s school experience, work situations, and community settings. This course provides opportunities for students to align class core topics with “real life” situations through a variety of hands-on activities. It is vital to prepare students on the middle school level to explore opportunities to meet many personal and career-related responsibilities by providing them with challenging learning experiences that require practical application of academic skills. The course constantly blends school situations with community connections. At the high school level, we offer students opportunities in both culinary arts, as well as food preparation and nutrition. These elective courses are popular among our students, and help them to transition into food service careers and mindful adulthood.Appropriate NYS certification required.All applicants should submit their job-specific cover letter via OLAS to Mr. Terence Rusch, Principal of Southold Junior-Senior High School by February14, 2023.
