The Seaford Union Free School District has the following openings: Full Time Teacher AideBuilding and Hours TBD Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree with one (1) year of related experience preferred. Strong passion for working with and assisting children with disabilities with intensive needs.Physical Requirements: Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting & standing required. Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat. Must be able to lift at least 15lbs.Characteristics Desired: Enjoy working with student(s) with disabilities, especially those requiring intensive needs and/or those receiving services in an intensive educational setting. Ability to positively manage student behavior in a school setting. Must have good interpersonal skills, be organized, dependable, and have the ability to work in a team environment, maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude.Performance Responsibilities and Functions: Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, responsibilities include:Working directly with the student(s) assigned, as per building administration, PPS administration, and/or teacher’s daily or weekly schedule.Maintaining confidentiality of information regarding student(s), employees, and others.Working with student(s) individually or in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.Implementing positive behavior strategies and supports to increase learners’ independence with academic and social emotional skills.Assisting with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure student(s) are on task.Recording of accurate data on academic skills and/or behaviors as directed.Implementing proactive and reactive strategies as outlined on student behavior strategy plan or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to assist with decreasing maladaptive behaviors to include willingness to obtain and implement Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Training.Assisting student(s) with implementation of physical/medical protocols, including but not limited to seizure/diabetic protocols, physical transfers, all toileting components, and other daily living skills.Aiding student(s) requiring the use of low-tech or high-tech adaptive equipment and/or technology to facilitate learning and/or communication.Assisting in implementing classroom routines and class-wide student management systems.Assisting in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.Assisting student(s) in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground, hallway, and other related non-instructional areas.Accompanying student(s) on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.Actively participate in professional development, including all Superintendent Conference Days, and 5 additional hours annually (not including CPI initial or recertification training).
