The Sewanhaka Central High School District has an opening(s) for two positions of Special Education Chairperson to begin the 2022-2023 school year. The special education program services students with varying abilities across multiple programs, including special classes 8:1:2, 12:1:1, 15:1:1, co-teaching and resource room programs. One chairperson will oversee the district’s life skills program for students working to earn exiting credentials. The second chairperson will oversee the special education program for the graded students working towards diploma credentials.Required Qualifications:Appropriate NYS Certification Required – School Building Leader/School Building Administrator/School District Administrator certificationCertification in special education or pupil personnel services area with 5 or more years’ experienceKnowledge of IDEA/Part 200 RegulationsExperience with IEP development and implementationEnergetic and dynamic leader with strong communication and collaboration skills Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Chairing CSE meetings at the building levelParticipating in central CSE meetings, as necessaryObserving and evaluating teachers, teaching assistants, and student aidesWorking collaboratively with school psychologists, school social workers, speech teachers and relater service providersCollaborating with the Central Office to develop goals that will support and enhance the special education programs.Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume and a copy of appropriate certification on OLAS.
