Certifications/Qualifications Valid NYS Certification – Students with Disabilities K–12 (or equivalent) Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and fulfills graduation requirements as applicable Keeps current on curricular needs and trends and strives to maintain and improve student performance Responsibilities Reports to the Pupil Services Director and Building Principal Under general and direct supervision, is responsible for helping students learn subject matter and skills that empower all students to be lifelong learners, inspired to pursue their dreams Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students Prepares students to fulfill educational standards and pass NYS assessments and/or Regents exams Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals Establishes clear objectives in the form of essential questions for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these to students Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved Strives to implement, through instruction and action, the District’s mission, core values, and instructional goals and objectives, focusing on student learning Assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in a fair and just manner Maintains open lines of communication with parents and is available to students and parents for education-related meetings as necessary If applicable, plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants, teacher aides, and volunteers Participates in staff development opportunities Please provide a letter of interest, current resume, copy of certifications and at least three professional references.
