The Scotia-Glenville Central School District is seeking a driven and exceptional educational leader for the probationary track position of K-12 Director of Math and Science. This 11-month position involves overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of Math and Science curriculum districtwide. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in various areas, including improving student outcomes, curriculum innovation, multi-tiered systems of support, fostering an inclusive environment, and supporting teacher professional growth. The role also requires exemplary work ethic, effective communication with stakeholders, team-building skill, and the ability to motivate both staff and students. The Director of K-12 Math and Science reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Duties and Responsibilities : Duties include, but are not limited to: Develop a vision for Math and Science curriculum that aligns with district mission statement and goals Lead elementary Math and Science committees Lead secondary Math and Science departments Partner with the Director of Humanities on districtwide initiatives, such as Portrait of a Graduate Support teacher goal setting, performance evaluation (APPR), and professional development Facilitate the implementation of the Next Generation Learning Standards in Math and Science Create and implement professional development focused on instructional best practice opportunities across the district Staff retention and hiring within the Math and Science departments Communicate directly with students and parents / guardians to address students’ educational needs Coordinate the implementation of the district multi tiered systems of support plan Coordinate districtwide community events, such as the K-5 Science Fair Data collection, verification, and reporting for the purpose of improving instruction for students and identifying professional development needs of staff Evaluate program effectiveness through examination of data, including but not limited to, State Education Department assessments, benchmark data, and course pass rates Responsible for Math and Science budget and supply development Collaborate with building leadership regarding the district testing program, including New York State 3-8 and Regents assessments, local assessments of student learning, and local end of course / end of year assessments Responsible for NYSED regulations specific to Math and Science, such as maintaining science lab requirement records Serve as the District Chemical Hygiene Officer Provide building-level administrative coverage as needed Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent Qualifications: New York State Certification: School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), or equivalent certification NYS teaching certificate in Math or Science Building or district administrative experience preferred Minimum of 5 years teaching Math or Science
