The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) has multiple openings for Teacher Aides working with special education students in the following buildings: Glen Worden Elementary School, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.Lincoln Elementary School, 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.High School, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Job responsibilities and expectations include the following:The ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and families.Constantly monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, transportation, assemblies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.Collaborate with teachers and other staff to incorporate information provided by parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and others in order to understand the needs of and provide services for students.Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with de-escalation techniques with students as needed.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and/or principalMinimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalentInterested candidates can apply on OLAS and direct questions to Catie Magil, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, by phone (518) 347-3600 x7402 or via email to cmagil@sgcsd.net.
