The Scotia-Glenville Central School District has two anticipated full-time, probationary positions at the elementary level for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or Speech Language Therapist (SLT) starting September 1, 2025. Both positions follow the 10-month school calendar and require travel between two buildings. One position is supporting students in an integrated co-teaching program and at a nonpublic school. The second position is supporting students in two self-contained programs (6:1:3 developmental skills and 8:1:2 social emotional).Minimum Qualifications:Masters degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Speech/Language PathologyNew York State Professional Licensure: Speech and Language Disabilities Initial or Professional Certificate or Speech and Hearing Handicapped Permanent CertificateASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferredResponsibilities include the following:Completes in-depth diagnostic evaluations of students’ speech, language, and communication abilitiesPresents a comprehensive analysis of students’ communication abilities and needsDevelops and implements effective goals, techniques and lessonsThe SLP/SLT provides individual and group speech and language therapy for communication disorders, including functional communication, augmentative and alternative communication, oral-motor skills, speech and language development.Incorporates available technology (software, adaptive equipment, AAC devices) to maximize students’ potentialProvides weekly whole group push-in speech lessons within kindergarten classroom to address developmentally appropriate language and articulation skillsWorks with students and their families holisticallyTrains team members in the application of techniquesFollows students’ IEP to plan and implement speech and language activities, monitor student progress, and provide IEP updates during the school year.Utilizes effective crisis intervention and behavior management techniquesParticipates in CSE meetings, especially for students transitioning from CPSE, and make related service recommendations for the 25-26 school yearPlease contact Catie Magil, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, at (518) 347-3600 x7402 or cmagil@sgcsd.net with questions regarding these probationary positions.
