The Scotia-Glenville Central School District is accepting applications for a probationary special education teacher position at Glen Worden Elementary School. The position is for a 9:1:3 developmental skills classroom for students in grades K-2. Students recommended for this program typically have a developmental diagnosis (usually Autism) and significant deficits in cognitive, adaptive, academic, and speech language skills.Minimum Qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification in Special Education either Students with Disabilities 1-6 Generalist, Students with Disabilities K-12, or All Grades certification.Job responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to the following: Plan lessons that align with the state standards and designated curriculum framework while significantly modifying the curriculum to provide Specially Designed Instruction. Design learning experiences that promote students’ ability to develop social skills, self-awareness, and emotional regulation. Collaborate with administrators, related service providers, parents, and community providers to support student learning. Collect and analyze multiple data sets, progress monitor IEP goals, deliver interventions with fidelity, and monitor each student’s response to the interventions. Communicate with families in a culturally responsive manner to keep them informed of their child’s progress and needs. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
