The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) has multiple openings for Teaching Assistants in the following buildings: Glen Worden Elementary School, 8:1:2 Special Class (Developmental Skills), 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scotia-Glenville Middle School, 8:1:2 Special Class (Developmental Skills), 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Scotia-Glenville High School, 2 Teaching Assistant principles within general education, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Job responsibilities and expectations include the following: The ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and families. Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support the delivery of instruction to students. Constantly monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers. Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students. Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom; record behavior data as requested; assist with de-escalation techniques with students as needed. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the teacher and/or principalMinimum Qualifications: NYS Teaching Assistant Level 1 Certification or higher.
