The Scotia-Glenville Central School District is currently accepting applications for a full-time, 10-month, probationary grade 6 teacher starting in January 2025. The position consists of primarily Social Studies classes at Scotia-Glenville Middle School. Minimum Qualifications: New York State Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) Certificate. Dual certification in Special Education and/or Literacy is preferred. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.Foster a positive classroom community that promotes respect for diverse cultures and perspectives.Design curriculum/lessons that address the New York State Social Studies Framework and utilize diverse teaching methods to address different learning styles and promote critical thinking skills within the context of Social Studies.Facilitate discussions that encourage students to connect historical events with contemporary issues, fostering a deeper understanding of civic engagement.Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and ways to support learning at home.Utilize an array of data to drive instruction and differentiate materials for individual learners.Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and parents to understand and meet the needs of students.
