Job DescriptionAll Positions: All jobs posted below are part of the Schenectady Summer Theatre Camp. The camp will run on weekdays from July 8th-August 2nd from 2:30-5:30pm, as part of the Extended Day Program. Staff will be expected to report to Door 8 at Schenectady High School at 2:00pm and stay until 6:00pm. Staff will teach acting, singing, dancing, and stagecraft skills. The camp will culminate in a performance of the short musical Swamped, by John Jacobson & John Higgins. Staff should expect to work for extended hours the day of the performance, August 2nd.ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST POSITIONS AVAILABLE:Drama/Stagecraft Assistant:The Drama/Stagecraft Assistant's main job is to work with the Program Director to create and execute drama and stagecraft activities during camp. The Drama/Stagecraft Assistant should expect to:-Assist in casting and staging the culminating musical, Swamped.-Assist in designing set and costume pieces for the show.-Create and execute stagecraft activities for elementary students.-Lead theatre games and ensemble activities. Music Assistant:The Music Assistant's main job is to work with the Music Director to teach the music for the culminating musical, Swamped. The Music Assistant should expect to:-Learn the music for the show prior to the start of camp.-Model good vocal technique.-Help assign and teach solos.-Lead vocal warm-up exercises.-Lead theatre games and ensemble activities.-Assist in arts and craft activities. Dance Assistant:The Dance Assistant's main job is to work with the Dance Director to choreograph and teach the dances for the culminating musical, Swamped. The Dance Assistant should expect to:-Learn the dances for the show prior to the start of camp.-Choreograph small numbers where needed.-Model good dance technique.-Help create stage pictures and formations for the show.-Lead physical warm-up exercises.-Lead theatre games and ensemble activities.-Assist in arts and craft activities. Floating Assistants (2-3 needed):The Floating Assistants' main job is to support the directors and assistants by keeping camp running as smooth as possible. Floating Assistants should expect to:-Supervise campers during arrival and dismissal.-Escort campers to the bathroom, drinking fountain, and cafeteria.-Handle basic first aid (band-aids, ice packs, etc.).-Participate in drama, music, dance, and stagecraft activities with campers, modeling good behavior, full participation, and positive social interactions.-Assist elementary students in working through interpersonal and self-esteem related issues.-Take on small administrative tasks, as designated by the directors.
