For all positions: Valid NYS Teacher Certification Required: Elementary, Reading/Literacy, Science, Social Studies, Math, Special Education AED/CPR Certification will be required for all positions. All programs and positions contingent upon enrollment.The 21st Century Community Learning Center Extended School Day Program at SHS, SCLA, MPMS, CPMS, OMS and Keane Elementary School is a continuation of the program from last year with additional resources for college and career exploration, service learning and financial literacy. In addition to the youth development activities and programs offered by the Schenectady Boys and Girls Club, each site will have certified teachers and the services of LCSW Social Workers, Psychologists and/or Guidance Counselors. The certified teachers will provide tutoring for individual students and small groups (3-5 students) as well as enrichment mini-courses for 10-15 students. Tutoring will be based upon the identified needs of each student. Mini-courses will engage students in project based learning designed to strengthen students’ attainment of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and 21st Century Skills. Teachers help students to attain grade level achievement in Reading and Math skills, increase course completion and accumulate credits for High School Graduation as appropriate depending on the grade level of the students. Assessment data and feedback from classroom teachers will be used to identify students for their intensive academic support as well as to track student progress during the fall, spring and summer. The program will consist of two sessions between October 11, 2022 and June 2, 2023. Each session will have new students but some students may attend more than one session. Teachers will provide tutoring/instruction up to 8 hours and have 1/2 hour per week of planning and preparation time. Each Site Leader will receive additional planning hours. During the planning time teachers will be expected to coordinate with classroom teachers and the other teachers in the 21st CCLC Extended School Day Program at the same building. The program in each building will be focused on needs identified by the Principal and staff at that school.
