District-Wide Behavior Specialist RoleThis position reports to the Pupil Services Division in a midsize urban school district located in the Capital Region of New York. The District-Wide Behavior Specialist will work with district and building leaders; as well as faculty and staff to improve the implementation and fidelity of District Multi-Tiered Supports and Systems (MTSS), as well as demonstrate knowledge of Culturally Responsive Social Emotional Learning Practices, Anti-racist policies and Trauma Sensitive Practices. The District-Wide Behavior Specialist must be adept at supporting and implementing data-informed practices, all through a lens of anti-racism and equity. They must be able to build both relationships and systems with a variety of different stakeholders, positively impacting school culture and climate.Collaboration and Consultation Services Obtain administrator/teacher/paraprofessional input regarding professional development needs. Develop professional development to build capacity within building PPS faculty around effective, preventative, best practice emotional and behavioral supports that can be turn-keyed within individual buildings by PPS faculty. Develop and distribute district-wide communications to share best practice information, address specific skills/techniques for preventing and responding to emotional behavioral meetings, discuss relevant issues, and highlight equitable, effective strategies used by SCSD’s teachers. Increase accessibility of effective behavior/classroom management and social-emotional resources for teachers (via shared network drive) and parents (via district website). Attends, as requested, professional development and district-level MTSS meetings. Models skillful use of data to inform decision making to identify Tier 1 solutions. Models skillful use of data to inform intervention plans (FBA/BIPS) for special education supports as necessary. Establishes and Maintains collaborative working relationships with parents, staff, and other district personnel. Maintains effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff and other school personnel. Serves, as requested on district committees to support MTSS and other district initiatives. Develops and maintains a positive and supportive rapport with families and staff. Assist schools in understanding procedures and processes for screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students’ response to interventions, respectively. Assist district and school administrators in the implementation of multi-tier systems of support using balanced culturally responsive assessments to inform behavior. Collaborate with building administrators and faculty to implement integrated social emotional learning curriculum through an anti-racist, equity lens. Job QualificationsMinimum QualificationsNYS certification as a School Psychologist is required;CSE experience preferred; Experience working in schools and with children preferred.
