Please be informed that applications are now being accepted for the following anticipated position:Anticipated Probationary Administrator Opening - (1) 1.0 Executive High School Principal (Grades 9-12) for 2024-2025Location: Colonie Central High SchoolStart Date: July 1, 2024Seeking an Administrator responsible for leadership related to curriculum and management in a 9-12 school building for the 2024-2025 school year. The High School Executive Principal is directly responsible for the ongoing operations of their school building to ensure high levels of student achievement, success as well as college and/or career readiness. Reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.General Requirements/Responsibilities:A valid NYS Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) and/or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) or School District Leader (SDL). Prefer at least three years' experience in public school administration and supervision. At least five years' successful experience as a classroom teacher at the appropriate level. Such alternatives to the above qualifications the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school activities.Informs the Superintendent of the school's activities and problems.Makes recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction.Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds.Supervises the maintenance of all required building records and reports.Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration.Works with various members of the central administrative staff to coordinate such services as transportation, special services, etc.Informs supervisors of events and activities related to supervisors' areas of responsibility.Encourages communication between students/parents and the school by establishing and maintaining positive relationships.Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.Supervises the school's educational program.Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.Schedules classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.Maintains an active role in the development and understanding of the Master Schedule.Assists in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum.Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to the due process to the rights of students.Attends school sponsored activities, functions and athletic events as well as special events held to recognize student achievement.Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities.Supervises and maintains accurate records of students' progress, attendance, etc.Assumes responsibility for students' attendance, conduct, health and safety.Assumes responsibility of their own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations; through attendance at regional, state, and national meetings; through enrollment in advanced courses, etc.Keeps informed of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing mutual concerns with others in the field.Supervises all professional, support, administrative, and non-professional personnel associated with the school.Assists in recruiting, selecting, training, assigning, and evaluating the school's professional staff.Approves the Master teaching schedule and any special assignments for teachers.Inducts newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate.Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.Sets agendas for and conducts meeting of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.Assists in providing Inservice orientation and training of teachers as well as informing teachers of administrative procedures.Recommends, according to established procedures, the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory.Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers, as necessary. Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant.Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes.Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.Asserts leadership in times of civil disobedience in school in accordance with established Board policy.Provides an adequate inventory of property within the school's jurisdiction and has responsibility for the maintenance and security of same.Assumes responsibility for the support, implementation, and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students.Supervises all activities and programs that are outgrowths of the school's curriculum.Supervises and evaluates the school's extracurricular program.Participates in principals' meetings, negotiations, and other such meetings as required or appropriate.Serves as an ex-officio member of all committees and councils within their school.Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.Responds to written and oral requests for information.Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence.Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with individual and local community groups by interpreting Board policies and administrative directives in order to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs.Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by the Superintendent.Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills.Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.Performs related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.Salary and Benefits:According to the South Colonie Administrators' Contract - base salary range of $130,000.00 to $150,000.00, depending on experience and transcripts.
