Computer Science Teacher 6th Grade - Middle School (Probationary)Scarsdale Middle School is seeking talented, experienced, and innovative candidates for the position of Computer Science Teacher specializing in Coding for the 2024-25 school year. The selected individual will provide classroom instruction in Computer Science/Coding for the sixth grade students. The successful candidate should demonstrate that they:Understand principles of coding, as well as platforms like Code.org, Scratch and Tynker.Utilize innovative practices to engage students in using technology and learning to code.Experience with physical computing devices such as Micro:bits or Circuit Playgrounds. Design lessons and curriculum that incorporates developmentally appropriate coding concepts while engaging a wide range of learners. Demonstrate a commitment to student-centered and project-based learning experiences.The Scarsdale Middle School faculty understands the unique social/emotional as well as intellectual needs of students in grades 6-8 and offers a rich and varied educational program to our 1100 students. We focus on creating a challenging, nurturing, and supportive environment that fosters critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and citizenship. Candidates must hold a valid NYS Middle Grades content area certification, and NY Educational Technology Specialist certification is preferred.
