The Scarsdale Schools’ IT department is seeking a talented, experienced, and highly motivated candidate for a Systems Analyst Programmer position. Under the supervision of the Lead Systems Analyst Programmer, the successful candidate will be a senior technical member of the Data Services team which provides support for all District-wide systems and databases. The Systems Analyst Programmer's responsibilities include:Managing software development and software implementation projects, including developing project plans and timelines, coordinating personnel involved and tracking progress of tasks, leading project meetings, and preparing minutes and status reportsDeveloping reports and system interfaces using SQL, PowerShell, and other programming languages as neededDeveloping data visualizations of student and staff data using TableauWriting technical specifications and overseeing development performed by vendorsDeveloping test plans and performing quality assuranceAnalyzing system requirements and writing business, functional, and technical specificationsAnalyzing existing workflows and recommending workflow changes & system solutionsDocumenting procedures and policiesPreparing system diagrams and user guidesIdentifying training needs, and training team members and end users The following skills are required:Thorough knowledge of databasesAdvanced SQL, Excel, Google Sheets, PowerShellKnowledge of JavaScript, JSP, HTML and Tableau preferredExcellent analytical and problem solving skillsStrong project management and organizational/time management skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability to effectively prioritize workloadAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and must be able to manage projects independentlyMust be a team player and have the ability to influence others without formal authorityMust possess strong verbal and written communication skillsSelf-starter with ability to anticipate business needs and offer proactive recommendationsExcellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholdersKnowledge of public schools, their databases and systems preferredThis is a Westchester County, Competitive Class, Civil Service position. At this time there is no list for this title. A provisional appointment can be made to a candidate who meets the following minimum qualifications:MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Either (a) graduation from a recognized college with a Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of experience in method analysis or programming in data processing work; or (b) completion of a two-year post high school, community college, or technical school course and five (5) years of experience as stated in (a); or (c) graduation from a standard high school course or possession of a high school equivalency diploma supplemented by an acceptable course in programming (six month course) and six and one half (6 1/2) years of experience as stated in (a); or (d) a satisfactory equivalent combination of the foregoing training and experience. NOTE: Six (6) months of experience as a programmer trainee will be considered equivalent to a specialized six (6) month course.
