Position: Full-time Probationary School PsychologistSalary: Per STA ContractQualifications: NYSED School Psychologist CertificationStart Date: September 1, 2026Sayville Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, skilled and collaborative building psychologist to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success of all students. In addition to providing schoolwide support, this position will play a key role in supporting the implementation of IEPs and 504 plans in accordance with State regulations and district policies and procedures. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, providing counseling and consultation services, collaborating with building administration to develop and monitor student supports, and chairing CSE and 504 meetings. Furthermore, this role emphasizes strong social-emotional support and character education, helping students develop self-awareness, resilience, and positive coping and decision-making skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a wide range of student behaviors and needs, using data-informed and trauma-responsive practices to support individual students and school teams. The building psychologist will play a vital role in improving the overall culture and climate of the school by promoting inclusive practices, positive behavior supports, and a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for all students.Key Responsibilities: Significant experience as a CPSE/CSE/504 chairperson and knowledge of best practices as it relates to Students with Disabilities (SWDs).Depth of understanding as it relates to diverse and unique student needs and behaviors; utilize both a data-informed and trauma-informed care approach.Lead and coordinate strong mental health and wellness support for students which is directly aligned to our District Wellness Program, STRIDES.Support students’ social-emotional development through counseling, mentorship, and conflict resolution.Collaborate with the Principal, teachers, staff, and parents to address student needs and promote a positive school environment.Lead the development and implementation of innovative workshops, programs, and initiatives that drive student success and well-being.Maintain accurate records and monitor practices with the goal of continuous improvement.Maintain involvement in relevant professional organizations and leverage best practices to lead and support student success.Application Process: Sayville Schools is anticipating a vacancy as noted above.
