Reading / Literacy Teacher (Anticipated)Location: Elementary School – Building - To Be DeterminedPosition: Reading/Literacy Teacher (Probationary)Salary: As per STA contract Start Date: September 1, 2024 Job Description:The Reading/Literacy teacher is responsible for providing academic support to students who are struggling with reading in elementary school. The successful candidate will use their expertise in reading instruction to create individualized intervention plans, monitor student progress, and collaborate with teachers and families to help students improve their literacy skills. Duties / Responsibilities:•Conduct assessments to identify students who are struggling with reading•Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to help students improve their reading skills, using evidence-based instructional strategies, materials, and techniques•Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and families to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed•Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback to students, families, and teachers•Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities•Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention plans•Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in literacy research and education Requirements:•NYS Reading or Literacy certification – Additional Elementary Ed certification preferred•Proven experience teaching reading to young students, with a deep understanding of literacy development•Knowledge of current literacy instructional strategies, techniques, and materials, as well as academic interventions•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families•Passion for teaching and a commitment to helping all students succeed Application Process: Sayville School District is anticipating a vacancy as noted above.
