Public Relations Liaison Under general supervision of the Superintendent or Schools, the individual has responsibility for, or assists in, planning and developing promotions, publicityinformational and services for Sayville School District.The successful candidate will:Collaborate with school district administration to implement communication plan;Write, edit and prepare news releases, feature articles, pamphlets, brochures, newsletters, and audio/visual materials for public information and various publications;Maintain working relationships with the press, social media or professional associations to publicize school district information and events;Disseminate information regarding functions and activities of the school district;Arrange press conferences;Prepare district press releases for school district officials;Create and edits presentation slides;Maintain and update school district website to post information, announcements, and to ensure accuracy of information presented;Confer with administrators, staff and department heads to establish content for web pages;Convert hard copy documents into a format for use on webpages and posts to website;Oversee information and graphic elements of website;Work with administration and staff to develop, edit and produce video programming of public meetings (e.g. Board of Education) and other agency events;Use computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignment;Visit schools and classrooms during the school day to gather information and obtain photos of covered activities;Attend BOE meetings, school district public forums, budget votes, after-school events and select weekend activities, i.e. Homecoming, musical and theatrical performances, etc; Job requirements include : Knowledge of the techniques of preparing, producing and disseminating information to the various media; ability to write clearly and concisely; excellent layout and design skills; ability to work effectively with the public and representatives media; ability to speak effectively in public; ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position; resourcefulness; creativity; initiative; imagination; and integrity. Minimum acceptable training, experience, and salary: A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations. Work experience in which the primary function of the position was writing for newspapers, publications, advertising agencies or writing relating directly to the community/public relations field. Starting salary of $50,000, commensurate with experience.
