SANY Charter Schools in New York seek a dynamic and experienced Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator. This vital role focuses on leading, developing, and implementing an innovative Gifted & Talented program aligned with New York state standards. The coordinator will be instrumental in nurturing academic, personal, and social growth in gifted students, fostering a stimulating learning environment that emphasizes enriched, multidisciplinary, and advanced-level thinking skills.Strategic Leadership and Program Development:Collaborate with school leadership to formulate and communicate a strategic vision for the Gifted & Talented program.Manage the identification, referral, evaluation, and placement processes for gifted students in compliance with New York state regulations.Develop and mentor teachers to provide high-quality, specialized instruction for gifted students.Design and implement a curriculum that incorporates enrichment, abstract thinking, and multi-disciplinary content.Administrative and Compliance:Oversee program schedules, budget management, and allocation of resources.Ensure adherence to New York state educational standards and federal regulations, including FERPA.Lead GT meetings, maintaining meticulous records and reports on student progress.Facilitate transparent communication with parents, teachers, and school administrators.Community and Stakeholder Engagement:Establish and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including families, educational authorities, and community groups.Represent the school in professional organizations focused on gifted education.Conduct community outreach to promote understanding and support for the Gifted & Talented program.Other Duties:Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and community events.Adhere to and promote non-discriminatory practices in all school activities.Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisorQualifications and Skills:Required Master’s degree in Education or a related field.Valid Teaching Certification in New York.Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in teaching or leadership within Gifted Education, specifically in providing Gifted & Talented services.Deep understanding of specialized education laws and policies relevant to New York state (IDEA, FERPA, etc.).Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to manage diverse and complex educational tasks.
