Position: Account Clerk Typist - ProvisionalAnticipated Start Date: July 1, 2024Building: District Business OfficeSalary: $46,000 - $52,000General Statement of Duties:Performs difficult but routine account keeping, typing and clerical tasks; does related work as required.Distinguishing Features of the class:This is clerical work involving responsibility for the performance of a number of varied or unrelated tasks requiring ability to type and to apply standard account keeping practices. The work may require the occasional exercise of independent judgment in the application of prescribed procedures and methods to routine cases. Employees in this class may work under rather close or general supervision depending upon the nature of their assignment. The work of employees in this class is usually checked by another step in the process or by a superior.Examples of work:Makes out checks and keeps records of checks issued; Audits bills, payrolls and other financial records; Balances accounts; Inspects, examines or audits accounts, according to departmental procedures, for accuracy and conformance; Operates computing, calculating, check writing and other office machines; Sorts, indexes and files requisitions, vouchers and other material; Reviews and checks account keeping records and reports for arithmetic and clerical accuracy; Assists in payroll data verification and processing; Maintains complex internal control records, schedules workloads and flow and coordinates the work with that of other unit members and departments; Plans, assigns and reviews the preparation and maintenance of a wide variety of financial records and reports and instructs employees in requisitioning processes; Compiles, prepares and analyzes a variety of complex financial and statistical reports and records; Revises, develops and implements account keeping methods and procedures; Conducts correspondence in connection with financial matters; Directs the audit of Varied Accounts, claims and records and the preparation of related reports; May assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and ensure the maintenance of necessary financial controls;Experience with nVision preferredRequired Knowledge, Skill and Ability:Good knowledge of methods used in keeping financial accounts and records, office terminology, procedures and equipment, business arithmetic and English; knowledge of elementary bookkeeping ; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to get along well with others; clerical aptitude; good judgement; neat appearance; tact and courtesy; good physical condition.Acceptable Experience and Training:One year of clerical experience some of which shall have been as an account clerk and graduation from a standard high school, including or supplemented by a course in typing ; or any equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to do the work.
