Job Opening POSITION: Administrative Assistant for Guidance - College & Career CounselingEFFECTIVE DATE: To Be DeterminedAPPLICATION DEADLINE: July 25, 2022COMPENSATION: Per the SAA Contract MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Must demonstrate leadership and strong interpersonal skillsFive years of experience as a school Guidance Counselor and/or previous administrative experienceValid New York State Certification a School District Leader or SDA GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement an equity-minded guidance program for all students including college and career readiness.Demonstrate knowledge of current regulations with respect to graduation pathways for all students.Supervise and evaluate the individual members of the department in respect to their effectiveness in attaining established guidance goals.Oversite and evaluation of the entire guidance program across all buildings.Consult with teachers, administrators and educational services personnel on matters related to guidance.Contact and refer students and parents to agencies and other appropriate referral resources.Maintain student records as required by the State or needed for effectively meeting student needs.Assist the principals in interpreting general grading and promotional policies.Assist in identifying and utilizing community resources for the department program.Prepare special reports for teachers, the Cabinet, the Superintendent and the Board of Education on the status of regular and special programs as related to guidance.Coordinate inter-building guidance programs (K-12) and conduct guidance departmental meetings.Create a guidance calendar for use by administrators and staff. Coordinate K-12 transitions.Coordinate and update Guidance Department Handbook, Guidance Plan, District Profile, and other related publications.Develop relationships with all district stakeholders, provide parental support and resources, including home visits and counseling of parents and guardians.Oversee crisis intervention: teen pregnancy, child abuse, violence, in conjunction with OSS staff.Oversee course selection and assist with the secondary master scheduling process and summer schoolOversee student internships, CDOS, career pathway programs, and serve as the district liaison for community business partnerships.Support record keeping: graduation requirements, transcripts, NCAA eligibility.Facilitate varied activities and events related to Guidance including College Night, College and Career Night, etc.Monitor and analyze state and district assessments with counselors and admin to ensure interventions as needed toward graduation, increase student placement in high order classes, etc. *Director position reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support & Administration Please note that the position(s) listed are contingent on the 2022-2023 school budget.
