Position Overview: The Rye Neck School District is seeking a motivated and collaborative Library Media Teaching Assistant to support students and staff in the effective use of library resources, instructional technology, and media services. This role is integral to fostering a welcoming, organized, and resource-rich learning environment that promotes literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Library Media Specialist in daily library operations, including circulation, shelving, cataloging, and maintaining materials. Support students in locating, selecting, and using print and digital resources. Help facilitate lessons and activities that promote information literacy, research skills, and responsible technology use. Provide basic technical support including troubleshooting for computers, devices, and audiovisual equipment used in the library. Supervise students in the library during scheduled classes, study periods, and before/after school as needed. Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming library environment. Assist with inventory, displays, and special programs such as book fairs, reading initiatives, and events. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student projects. Communicate consistently with District Technology staff regarding student chromebook and log in issues. Qualifications: High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable. Familiarity with library cataloging systems (OPALS preferably), educational technology, and digital research tools preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and staff. Basic computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, and online platforms.
