Payroll Clerk Position : Payroll Clerk (12-months) Available : May 1, 2026 Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000 Qualifications : Currently holding the Payroll Clerk title or on the active list for the title. This role is responsible for maintaining payroll records, processing deductions, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The position involves regular interaction with staff and supervisors. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process payroll for all employees based on established records Maintain accurate payroll records, including pay rates, deductions, and employment changes Process updates related to appointments, salary changes, promotions, leaves, and terminations Review and verify payroll deductions for accuracy (e.g., taxes, benefits, retirement contributions) Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and related procedures Ensure payroll is completed in accordance with established schedules Generate reports related to payroll deductions and withholdings Coordinate electronic payments Assist with processing civil service and/or benefits-related documentation, as assigned Provide general clerical support to the department as needed Utilize payroll and office software applications (spreadsheets, word processing, email, databases) Qualifications Must hold the civil service title “Payroll Clerk” Experience in a school district is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of payroll processes and procedures Working knowledge of Social Security and retirement systems Proficiency in computer applications e.g., Excel, Word, payroll system (nVision) Strong attention to detail and accuracy in calculations Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism Additional Requirements Ability to pass a fingerprinting and background check in accordance with New York State SAVE legislation prior to employment April 10, 2026
