Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptableReports to:Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and InstructionSupervises & Evaluates:Elementary, Middle, and High School CounselorsPerformance Responsibilities: Works with administrators, school counselors and social workers to implement effective departmental programs, supporting social-emotional learning throughout the district. Works with staff in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating new departmental programs and practices. Recommends program plan for department to building principals and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Conducts studies and reviews information including test/survey data with staff to identify student needs. Supervises and evaluates all counseling faculty and clerical support staff. Leads the development, coordination, and oversight of all classroom counseling sessions. Organizes and presents evening parent presentations, i.e., Parent University, College Information Nights, College Fairs, Grade Level meetings, etc. Participates in the budget planning process. Works collaboratively with the building administration to develop long-term plans with regard to curricular offerings and allocation of resources. Coordinates college travel schedules and conference attendance for High School counselors. Establishes small group intervention programs with counseling staff. Participates in the development of the high school master schedule. Assists in the recruitment and selection of department personnel. Orients department personnel to policies and procedures. Recommends staff assignments based on program needs and staff strengths and interests. Assesses and recommends staff development needs in his/her area of responsibility. Observes and evaluates staff performance in writing. Assists principals in improving school counselor and social worker performance. Works with building principals to maintain articulation between levels and buildings. Communicates department plans, practices and progress to staff, students, parents and the community. Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, works with the Advisory Council to update the District K-12 School Counseling Plan on at least an annual basis and files with NYSED. Symbolizes leadership through attendance at school-sponsored events related to the department. Maintains membership and active participation in professional associations. Establishes and maintains working relationships with governmental agencies, community organizations and businesses. Attends meetings called by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and/or building principal. Performs such additional duties as may be delegated by the immediate supervisor(s) or the Superintendent of Schools.Additional Duties: Coordinate the registration and Administration of the SAT/PSAT. Manage and complete SAT accommodation requests. Administer ACT to students with special accommodations.Terms of Employment:This is a (12) twelve month position. Salary is established in accordance with the Rye Administrators Association contract.
