Come join our Diverse, Dynamic, & Student-Centered Administrative TEAM!.POSITION: Assistant Director for Pupil Personnel ServicesSTART DATE: July 2025PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:.The Assistant Director for Pupil Personnel Services is an energetic, dynamic, and student-centered administrator that is a Team Player and has an unwavering focus on student outcomes. This individual is a visible leader, exceptional communicator, promotes creativity, innovation, and supports staff to build expertise and a positive school community environment. The Assistant Director for Pupil Personnel Services serves under the direct supervision of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. This position is in recognition of the need for direction, coordination and supervision of the various educational services in the district to enable students to progress steadily toward optimum attainment of their educational goals. Must hold NYSED Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL)Promote and provide for a positive, respectful school culture and establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with all staff.Have a positive Growth Mindset and promote Collective Efficacy among staff and faculty.Be a visible champion for all Roosevelt students, their families, and District staff to prepare for a successful academic and professional future.Create a culture of high achievement, social and emotional wellness and graduation rates through positive interactions with students and their families.Willingness and initiative to learn and grow professionally and to support District initiatives.Attend and support building, district, and community events.Expertise in data analysis, cohort trends, gap analysis, etc.Provide strong instructional leadership while actively cultivating highly effective teaching and learning practices in all classrooms and for all students.Working knowledge of New York State requirements for Students with Disabilities.Manage budget and resources effectively to support instructional and operational goals.Administer, supervise and coordinate special education services and programs for students with disabilities that reside in Roosevelt. Serve as Chairperson for the Committee on Special Education and Committee on Pre-School Special Education. Acts as District Liaison in designated meetings and conferences. Supervises and monitors Medicaid records, billing and reconciliation. Organize special education classes in compliance with New York State regulations, making the district eligible to receive state funding. Monitors all prescriptions for related services (i.e., speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy). Conducts site visits and evaluations/observations of special education staff. Conduct annual reviews for students with disabilities that reside in Roosevelt and are placed in special education programs within the district and outside the district. Supervise the individual education program process in compliance with New York State recommendations for students with disabilities. Assume responsibility for the accuracy, validity, and interpretation of results from use of the testing program.Oversee and coordinate special education services conducted by the district and assignment of pupils to special education programs conducted outside the district. Assist with compiling statistical reports as required by law, which are relevant to the State Aid Program. Coordinate orientation programs for students moving from one school level, both public and non-public, to another. Handle all referrals to community agencies, such as a mental health clinic. Work with the pupil transportation services office for special education students. Oversee the district’s program of home tutoring for eligible students. Act as consultant to building principals in all areas of Special Education Services. Conduct in-service workshops and training development programs for members of the department.Monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in the District Student Management System.Assists with the supervision of the PPS department clerical and clinical staff.
