Family and Community Engagement Liaisons/Teaching Assistant (Building Level Position) MAJOR REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Must hold:NYSED Teaching Assistant Certification RequiredBilingual Spanish is PreferredCreate a family event schedule for the year. Post in Family Center (if available), website, and social media. Maintain an updated calendar of events specific to the school site and share it with staff and the DistrictAttend events and support educators in implementing "Family Nights"Support the school's implementation of FEA recommendations as it relates to the visual representation of diversity in the schoolsCoordinating and assisting schools in implementing Parent University and providing capacity-building sessions. Assist with engaging families as co-creators and co-facilitate and lead some sessionsShare resources with schools, post on website, and post on school campusModel culturally responsive and respectful practices in the Community Rooms by posting images in the community/family resource room to represent the diverse culture of the school communityAssist the schools in implementing content in languages representing RUFSD familiesDevelop in-person and virtual opportunities tailored to individual school needs, school culture, and school goals for engaging and building families' capacity to support their child's learning (workshops, round table conversations, coffee with the principal, texting campaigns, social media, website, interactive parent boards (onsite and virtual, etc.)Assist the schools in promoting opportunities for families to share, provide feedback, offer opinions, comments, thoughts, (suggestion box - in-person and virtual, social media comments, blogs, vlogs, etc.)Collaborate with teachers to conduct interactive workshops/learning opportunities for families to understand and support their child's learning at home Support teachers/schools with maintaining current content on websites and social media that assists families in supporting their child's learning and developmentCreate parent "Tip Sheets" as "what to expect at a conference" and "Important questions to ask"Create a tool that assists with supporting families Before, During, and After the conference - differentiated for elementary, middle, and high schoolCreating a safe place for teachers to practice and prep to conduct conferences Conduct workshops for families on Preparing for Parent ConferencesAssists classroom teachers with all relevant assignments to support a positive learning environment SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience apply for this POSITION by completing a cover letter, resume and applicationThe Roosevelt UFSD is an equal opportunity employer.
