PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS: The School District Clerk is an energetic and dynamic team member that is appointed annually by the Roosevelt Board of Education for a one-year term and serves at the pleasure of the Board while creating a professional working relationship with the Superintendent of Schools. This individual is visible and promotes creativity, innovation, and supports the Board of Education with duties that are specified in New York Education Law 2121 and includes a variety of clerical, financial and management responsibilities. The candidate for the position must exhibit an exceptional level of professionalism and confidentiality. It requires a proven ability to understand and interpret complex written and verbal instructions. Strong knowledge of public administrative procedures and practicesKnowledge of BoardDocs preferred (School Board Management Software)In-depth technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelFamiliarity with the laws, regulations, practices, and policies of the New York State Education DepartmentAbility to manage administrative details independentlyExperience in the areas of organization, planning, office management, as well as internal/external communications and travelAbility to promote and maintain effective public relations; accuracy; resourcefulness; initiative; neat personal appearanceKnowledge of Robert’s Rules of OrderNotary Public (Preferred)Five (5) years clerical/ administrative experience preferredRelated duties as assigned by the Roosevelt Board of Education including, but not limited to the following:Duties: Records proceedings of all meetings of voters; Gives notice of the time and place of district meetings; Attends all Board of Education meetings and keeps a record of their proceedings; Reads incoming correspondence to Board and distributes copies for Board members; Prepares, types, reproduces and distributes agendas for meetings using BoardDocs; Applies and maintains documents in the BoardDocs Library, maintains master policy book describing Board policies and distributes copies to Board members; Invites vendors to bid, where required, by sending letter or by utilizing advertisements; Keeps and preserves all records of the District; Replies to correspondence reports and other data concerned with clerical and administrative duties of the position; Keeps such accounting forms and adheres to accounting procedures as required by the Commissioner of Education.
