The Ridgefield Public Schools announce a vacancy for Director of Educational Technology effective for the 2026-27 school year. Ridgefield is a suburban town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, 55 miles northeast of New York City. In addition to your OLAS application, please complete the application process at www.ridgefield.org PURPOSE STATEMENT The Director of Educational Technology is responsible for leading the effective use of technology across the district by providing technology services, resources, and professional development for staff, as well as researching and implementing new technologies and courses. This position also supervises technology personnel and oversees the planning, evaluation, development, implementation, and maintenance of technology services to ensure compliance with established guidelines and district objectives. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise all educational technology operations of the school system. Direct, coordinate and ensure implementation of all tasks related to technical infrastructure, standards and integration of technology into every facet of district operations in collaboration with IT manager. Manage the creation, implementation and enforcement of policies and educational programs relating to social, legal and ethical issues related to technology use in the district. Integrate technology within curriculum and instruction to provide an appropriate environment for teaching and learning. Oversee and lead the Library Media Specialists Department K-12 and the Career and Technical Education district wide courses in collaboration with District Curriculum Leadership. Budget, plan and coordinate ongoing, professional development for instructional staff. Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery systems to ensure protection and integrity of all technical operations and emergency communications. Manage the maintenance of systems and tools for gathering, mining, integrating and reporting data in usable and meaningful ways to cultivate a culture in which data management is critical to strategic planning. Comply with all state and national reporting requirements and assist district in planning to address emerging needs for data collection and application. Oversee all aspects of technology budget. Knowledge of recurring sources and one-time funding, capital and operational expenses, unit and extended costs, municipal budget cycles and fiscal year calendars. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Strong academic preparation with substantial background in computer science and technology education. Knowledge of teaching and learning theory as they relate to the role of technology in curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of software and hardware resources, organizations, developers and vendors. Excellent written, oral and presentation skills. Ability to analyze problems and recommend practical solutions. Background in staff development, skill in evaluation and management of staff. Ability to supervise and evaluate staff.
