Position Summary: Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Director of School Safety and Security will coordinate security and safety measures for the school district including: development of district and school safety plans; engagement with school staff to facilitate crisis management; liaising with the Ridgefield Police Department and other law enforcement agencies; communicating with administrators, teachers, students and families regarding school safety issues and manages the data related to school safety. Responsibilities:Oversee and maintain a districtwide safety program involving building safety systems including but not limited to: Building surveillance systems Student, personnel, and visitor identification procedures Emergency plans; staff safety orientation and training programs Appropriate lighting and signage Coordination of services with local, state, and federal law enforcement and emergency agencies Collaboration with the administration regarding student residency concerns and investigate when necessary Maintains a presence in the schools, district-wide and works with students as appropriate Serves as an ex-officio member of district safety committee and the safety committee/crisis team for all district schools Responsible for coordinating district collaborative efforts with municipal agencies for fire and health inspections, CIRMA visits, and the development of emergency plans In collaboration with the Director of Personnel, provide training for district staff in child abuse warning signs, child abuse referrals to DCF and other areas as required by State Statute Prepare and administer the budget for district safety to ensure the most cost-effective utilization of resources Coordinate district collaborative efforts with municipal agencies for accident investigations and law enforcement Recommend policies, procedures and contract language to improve discipline and safety Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings Protect confidentiality of records and information about students and staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information Other duties as determined by the Superintendent of Schools Minimum Qualifications: Five years of successful experience in a law enforcement agency Coursework in criminal justice or in a related field preferred Supervisory experience preferred Valid driver’s license Ability to maintain flexible working hours Certification in CPR & First AidSALARY$95,000-$110,000 and dependent upon experience.Work Year: 200 work days (Follows the RPS calendar for 187 teacher work days plus an additional 13 work days)In addition to your OLAS application, please complete the application process at www.ridgefield.org
