RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT announces a ONE YEAR LEAVE REPLACEMENT VACANCY FOR A SCHOOL COUNSELOR AT THE RONDOUT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL. The primary role of the Counselor will be to provide compassionate, comprehensive counseling services to secondary students, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional well-being. The successful candidate will assist students in achieving their full potential and develop strategies to address their academic and career goals.The Secondary Level School Counselor will primarily work within the school premises, including classrooms, counseling offices, and meeting rooms. They will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure students' needs are met. Some evening or weekend work may be required for parent-teacher conferences, college fairs, and other school events. The counselor should be comfortable working directly with students and adapting to their unique needs and challenges.Qualifications:1. Master's degree in school counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.2. Valid New York State certification as a School Counselor.3. Experience working with high school students in a counseling or related capacity is preferred. 4. Strong understanding of academic and career planning, college admissions, and financial aid processes.5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, parents, and staff.6. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and support students from various cultural backgrounds.7. Knowledge of relevant laws and ethical guidelines related to student confidentiality and privacy.8.
