The Rome City School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Elementary Principal to lead our school community at Denti Elementary School. The successful candidate will serve as an instructional leader dedicated to fostering academic excellence, positive school culture, and equitable outcomes for all students. This role requires a strong foundation in curriculum, instruction, and data-driven decision-making, along with the ability to support and develop staff through collaborative leadership practices. The Elementary Principal will oversee the day-to-day operations of the building while maintaining a clear focus on improving student achievement, attendance, and social-emotional well-being. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Candidates should possess appropriate New York State School Building Leader certification (or equivalent), along with demonstrated success in teaching and/or school leadership roles. The Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of the building, responsible for advancing academic achievement, fostering a positive and inclusive school climate, and supporting the growth and development of staff. This leader will champion high expectations for all students while cultivating strong partnerships with families and the broader community. Key Responsibilities: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction, and assessment aligned with New York State learning standards. Utilize data-driven practices to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions. Support and evaluate instructional staff, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development. Promote best practices in elementary education, including differentiated instruction and MTSS frameworks. Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students. Promote positive student behavior and implement restorative and proactive discipline practices. Foster a culture of high expectations, respect, and collaboration among students and staff. Oversee daily building operations, including scheduling, supervision, safety protocols, and compliance with district and state regulations. Manage building budget and resources effectively to support instructional priorities. Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Facilitate professional learning communities and collaborative team structures. Build leadership capacity among staff and promote shared decision-making. Develop strong partnerships with families, encouraging active involvement in the school community. Communicate effectively and consistently with all stakeholders. Collaborate with district leadership and community organizations to support student success. Qualifications: Valid New York State Administrative certification (SBL, SAS, SDA equivalent). Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field. Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher and/or school leader. Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Experience using student data to drive instructional improvement. Prior administrative experience at the elementary level. Experience with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners. Knowledge of restorative practices, PBIS, and MTSS frameworks. Proven ability to lead school improvement initiatives and manage change effectively.
