The Rome City School District is seeking a qualified and compassionate Special Education Home Tutor to provide instructional support to a high-needs student in a home setting for at least 2 hours daily (daytime preferred), with more hours available. This is a unique, individualized assignment requiring consistency, flexibility, and the ability to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of the student. The selected candidate will deliver instruction aligned with the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), coordinate with district staff as needed, and maintain accurate documentation of services provided. While the position is expected to be approximately two hours per day, additional hours may be available. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one academic instruction in the home setting. Implement instructional strategies aligned to the student’s IEP goals. Adapt materials and pacing to meet student needs. Maintain communication with assigned district staff and/or case manager. Document instructional time, progress, and student engagement. Qualifications: NYS Teaching Certification required. NYS Special Education (SWD All Grades) Certification preferred. Experience working with elementary students, particularly high-needs learners. Strong ability to work independently in a home-based setting. Effective communication and organizational skills. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
