Physical Education & Health Teacher The Rome City School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic Physical Education and Health Teacher to inspire and engage High School students (grades 7-12) in developing lifelong fitness habits, motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Key Responsibilities: Design and deliver high-quality physical education lessons that align with NYS Physical Education Standards and promote physical literacy. Deliver standards-based health instruction aligned with New York State Health Education Standards. Teach topics including nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, human growth and development, and personal wellness. Foster the development of fundamental motor skills, fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits in a fun and supportive environment. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse physical and developmental needs of all students, including those with IEPs and 504 plans. Promote positive behaviors, inclusion, and sportsmanship through structured physical activities and games. Promote health literacy, decision-making skills, and responsible behaviors. Use data to assess student growth, physical competencies, and participation, and inform instruction accordingly. Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and support personnel to promote overall student development. Ensure a safe, respectful, and well-managed learning environment, including the proper use and maintenance of equipment. Qualifications: Must hold valid New York State Physical Education and Health Teaching Certifications. Knowledge of child development, adaptive physical education strategies, and inclusive practices. Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm for promoting physical fitness, well-being, and student-centered learning. Why Join Us?
