The Rome City School District is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and equity-driven Elementary AIS (Academic Intervention Services) Reading Teacher to support students who require targeted literacy intervention to meet grade-level standards. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct, small-group and/or individual literacy intervention aligned with the NYS Learning Standards for English Language Arts and district AIS guidelines. Develop and implement standards-based intervention lessons targeting foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Analyze and interpret multiple data sources (e.g., benchmark assessments, diagnostic tools, running records, state assessments) to identify students for AIS services and to inform instructional planning. Design and implement individualized intervention plans with measurable growth targets. Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies based on performance data. Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between Tier 1 instruction and AIS intervention (Tier 2/Tier 3 support). Maintain accurate documentation of student services and progress in compliance with NYS AIS requirements. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies to support literacy development at home. Support students’ academic confidence, engagement, and independence as readers. Participate in CSE/504 meetings when appropriate to provide input regarding academic intervention services. Qualifications: Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Reading. Strong knowledge of elementary literacy development, including the science of reading and evidence-based instructional practices. Experience using assessment data to drive instruction and monitor student growth.
