The Rome City School District is seeking a qualified and dynamic leader to serve as the Coordinator of In-District Centralized Tutoring Programs (Grades 7–12). This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a centralized tutoring program designed to support students in grades 7–12. The Coordinator will ensure effective academic support, oversee program operations, supervise tutoring staff, and collaborate with building leaders to support student success. Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months. Employment terms are governed by the Rome Administrators’ Association contract. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in accordance with procedures established by the Superintendent of Schools. Position Overview The Coordinator of In-District Centralized Tutoring Programs is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a centralized tutoring program for students in grades 7-12. This includes hiring and supervising part-time core area teachers, establishing program procedures, and ensuring effective communication with building-level administrators. The Coordinator will also create academic and behavioral success plans, manage intake processes, and maintain a safe and productive learning environment. Qualifications Education and Certification: Holds a New York State Certificate as a Building-Level Administrator or School District Administrator. Meets all New York State certification requirements. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of successful administrative or supervisory experience in public school settings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional practices, and New York State Education Law. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in data analysis to monitor and improve student outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervision and Program Oversight: Manage the district’s centralized tutoring program for grades 7-12, including hiring, training, and evaluating part-time tutoring staff. Coordinate standardized testing, including Regents exams, for students in the program. Ensure students with special needs receive services aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaborate with building leaders and mental health staff to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs. Program Management: Monitor student progress to ensure academic improvement and provide regular updates to families and school leaders. Develop and implement success plans for students, including clear transition plans when they exit the program. Facilitate communication between program staff, home schools, and administrators to support seamless integration of academic materials and expectations. Establish clear processes for program access, intake meetings, and signing of student-family contracts. Oversee attendance tracking and provide weekly attendance reports to building leaders. Operational Support: Work with the technology department to secure necessary resources for program staff and students. Ensure program staff have the tools and professional development needed to deliver high-quality instruction. Coordinate the delivery of Physical Education and other required subjects within the program. Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the liaison between the program, building leaders, families, and district departments to address operational and instructional needs. Provide weekly progress updates to families and school leaders. Other Responsibilities: Attend Board of Education and committee meetings as directed. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
