The Rome City School District is seeking dependable and responsible individuals to serve as full-time Lifeguard. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff during swim programs, practices, and events. Duties include monitoring activities in and around the pool, enforcing safety rules, and responding effectively in the event of an emergency.Qualified candidates must be at least 19 years of age, hold current lifeguard certification (including CPR/BLS and First Aid), demonstrate strong observation and communication skills, and be able to remain calm under pressure. Employees must be constantly alert to assist swimmers when they are experiencing difficulty and to enforce safety rules. Work requires sound judgment in emergencies; Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)Has responsible charge at the pool supervising designated swimming areas and monitors bathers at all times;Maintains order and enforces all rules and regulations established by the recreation coordinator;Ensures that all equipment is set up prior to pool opening and taken down and put away after closing daily;Assists in the overall minor maintenance of the pool area, i.e., showers restrooms, and deck area;Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled;Reports promptly for work duty in proper uniform;Performs lifesaving skills and renders first aid as needed;Complete first aid and accident reports;Perform related duties as required.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:Good knowledge of first aid, lifesaving and rescue techniques as applied to accidents in and around the pool area;Ability to swim well;Ability to deal effectively with the public and to secure cooperation without unnecessary antagonism;Ability to keep records and make simple reports;Good observational abilities;Mental alertness;Patience and maturity;Good judgment;Good moral character; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess a current and valid Lifeguard Training, CPR/BLS, and Standard First Aid cards.
