The Rome City School District is actively recruiting for a full time 12-month Director of Secondary Programs. Selected candidate must possess NYS School District Administrative Certification.Director of Secondary ProgramsThe Director of Secondary Programs reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the consistent implementation and supervision of instructional programs and services across classrooms and schools grades 7-12. Additionally, this individual will coordinate appropriate professional learning thatwill be required to effectively implement programs for the successful outcome of all students. Particular emphasis will be placed on data analysis to inform program refinements.I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Monitors data to improve greater outcomes for all students and collaborates with district and building leaders to utilize relevant data for school improvement plans/efforts.• Works closely with the district's data manager on collecting, organizing, interpreting, and reporting on district-wide accountability data (ESSA), and makes necessary refinements to ensure that our district is in good standing status.• Observes and evaluates probationary instructional staff.• Coordinates with building leaders on the after-school tutoring program.• Collaborates with building leaders in the development of the district's secondary building schedules.• Coordinates the recommendation of and placement of orders for textbooks, and other instructional materials at the secondary levels.• Works collaboratively with principals, supervisors, teacher coordinators and teachers to ensure that instructional programs and services are coordinated in the schools and are administered uniformly and equitably.• Ensures curriculum alignment between the secondary and elementary levels of the instructional programs in collaboration with key stakeholders.• Develops and implements professional learning for 7-12 staff, as necessary.• Provides educational leadership and helps coordinate the development of curriculum and the implementation of instructional programs of the district.• Conducts meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the Director's departments and keeps the staff informed about current educational research, technology, and materials for the improvement of instruction.• Keeps the secondary principals aware of developments related to curriculum and communicate changes/directives from the State Education Department regarding standards, assessments, and Part 100 regulations.• Assists in the recruitment, selection, hiring, and orientation of all new secondary teachers.• Collaborates with building principals and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to determine the secondary staffing needs, based on student population and programs.• Recommends budget line items, and coordinates the purchasing of instructional materials and equipment within assigned programs.• Communicates with the administrative and supervisory staff regularly about the needs, successes, and general operation of assigned programs and services.• Remains current in the research and acts as a resource to all personnel in the areas of curriculum, assessment practices, and instruction, including their implications for the district's programs.• Attends Board of Education meetings and committee meetings as determined by the Superintendent of Schools.• Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the preparation and presentation of Board of Education workshops.• Attends BOCES and other related meetings on behalf of the District as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.• Other duties as assigned.II. Supervisory Roles and Responsibility:• Coordinates and ensures implementation of the district's AIS/RTI plan, and related services at the secondary levels• Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to ensure that the district's English New Language Program is implemented effectively per Part 154 regulations at the secondary levels.• Collaborates with building leaders and coordinates administration of standardized New York State testing programs, including Regents examinations at the secondary levels.• Collaborates with community organizations/businesses to support student school-to-work opportunities.• Provides administrative oversight of the district's music, business, and technology programs at all levels.• Supervises Teacher Coordinators at the secondary levels.III. Minimum Qualification:• The Director will possess a New York State Certificate as School District Administrator and meet all State Requirements.• The Director will have at least four or more years of successful administrative and/or supervisory experience in K-12 settings.• The Director will have broad general knowledge of curriculum, curriculum development, and research-based instructional practices; strong academic preparation; leadership ability; the ability to work effectively with others; ability to make critical evaluations or suggestions for improving the curriculum.IV. Terms of Employment:• Twelve (12) month employee. Terms of employment will be in accordance with the terms of the Rome Administrators' Association contract.V.
