The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Principal at the lower elementary school level (Grades K-3). This is a full-time 12-month position which includes a regionally competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS administrative certification (SAS, SDA, or SBL) is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level, with a proven commitment to student-centered learning and early childhood developmentDeep understanding of early childhood education best practices, including developmentally appropriate teaching strategiesThorough knowledge of the New York State Early Learning Standards and elementary curriculum, with the ability to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of early learnersAbility to create a safe, inclusive, and developmentally supportive school environment, fostering the social-emotional well-being and academic success of young studentsExtensive understanding of the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and its application in promoting a positive school culture, ensuring fair and restorative approaches to behavior managementProven experience in supervising, mentoring, and evaluating early childhood educators, offering targeted feedback and supporting their professional growth.Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and community partners, building strong relationships to support students' academic and social developmentExceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an early childhood educational settingExcellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, families, and the broader school communityPROFESSIONAL DUTIES:Assist the Principal in providing leadership and support across all areas of instruction and administration, fostering an academically enriching, safe, and nurturing learning environmentCollaborate with families to address early academic needs, behavioral concerns, and social-emotional development of students Oversee student behavior management in a developmentally appropriate and supportive manner, ensuring consistent adherence to the District Code of Conduct and DASA principlesConduct regular classroom observations and offer constructive, growth-oriented feedback to early childhood teachers, helping to enhance instructional practices and promote professional developmentSupport the development and alignment of curriculum and instructional strategies for early learners, ensuring that they meet New York State Learning Standards and best practices in early childhood educationAssist faculty and staff with ongoing professional development, providing mentorship and creating a collaborative culture of continuous improvement Analyze student performance data in collaboration with teachers, identifying opportunities for intervention and support, and using data to improve student outcomes in all gradesHelp manage school operations, including assisting with scheduling, budget oversight, and resource allocation, to ensure the optimal functioning of the school’s childhood programsBuild strong partnerships with parents, community members, and District leadership, encouraging active involvement and shared responsibility for students’ success and developmentPromote a safe, inclusive, and positive school culture, where each student feels respected, supported, and valued within the school communityFacilitate and lead collaborative teacher meetings and professional learning communities, encouraging the sharing of best practices, strategies, and resources to support instructional excellence in early childhood educationAssist in the development and implementation of safety protocols and crisis management plans, working with staff and local agencies to ensure the physical and emotional safety of students and staff
