The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for the anticipated position of Dean of Students at the high school level. This is a full-time 12-month position which includes a regionally competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS administrative certification (SAS, SDA, or SBL) is required. Bilingual candidates who are fluent in Spanish are encouraged to apply.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level, with a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and support their academic and social developmentIn-depth knowledge of the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and its implications for student discipline, ensuring a fair, equitable, and restorative approach to behavioral interventions and consequencesProficiency in utilizing student management systems such as Infinite Campus, with the ability to analyze student data to inform decision-making and support student successProven ability to engage and collaborate effectively with staff, parents, community members, and other stakeholders to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environmentStrong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to manage student conduct, attendance, and intervention programs effectively.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to mediate conflicts, provide clear guidance to students and families, and work collaboratively with faculty and administration to uphold the school’s missionPROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Partner with Assistant Principals to ensure the fair, consistent, and effective enforcement of school policies, fostering a positive and respectful school cultureLead investigations into student behavioral incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and implementing appropriate interventions and disciplinary actions aligned with the District Code of ConductOversee and manage student attendance, including monitoring attendance patterns, preparing parent notifications, conducting intervention meetings, and implementing strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism and tardinessServe as a key liaison for after-school programs, coordinating efforts between school staff, community organizations, and external agencies to provide enrichment opportunities and support services for studentsCollaborate with security personnel and administration to proactively maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive school environment, implementing strategies that support student well-being and conflict resolutionEngage families, faculty, and community members in meaningful partnerships to address student concerns, enhance communication, and strengthen support systems that promote student successCoordinate and support student activities, events, and leadership programs, fostering student engagement, school spirit, and a sense of belonging within the school community
