The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Principal at the lower elementary level (K-3). This is a 12-month probationary position which includes a regionally competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS administrative certification (SBL, SAS or SDA) is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of five years of successful elementary-level teaching experience, demonstrating a strong ability to foster student engagement, academic growth, and a positive classroom environment.At least three years of effective experience as a building-level administrator, with a track record of implementing school-wide initiatives that enhance student learning and teacher effectiveness.In-depth knowledge of New York State Learning Standards and elementary curriculum, with a particular emphasis on early literacy development, ensuring alignment with best instructional practices.Ability to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment that supports the social-emotional well-being and academic success of all students.Extensive understanding of evidence-based teaching strategies, differentiated instruction, and best practices for working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and students with disabilities.Strong capacity to observe, evaluate, and support teachers in refining their instructional methods to drive student achievement and professional growth.Expertise in analyzing student performance data to guide instructional improvements, programmatic adjustments, and targeted interventions that maximize learning outcomes.Thorough understanding of the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and its implications for student behavior management, ensuring disciplinary practices are equitable, fair, and restorative in nature.Skilled in fostering meaningful collaboration with teachers, parents, community members, and external partners to advance the school’s mission and strengthen family-school partnerships.Experience in efficiently developing school schedules, managing budgets, and preparing presentations or reports to support decision-making and resource allocation.Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, address challenges proactively, and implement innovative solutions that enhance school operations and student success.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences, facilitate professional development, and inspire a shared vision among stakeholders.
