The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for a probationary Principal position at the lower elementary school level (Grades K-3). This is a twelve-month administrative position that will begin on July 1, 2024. This position includes a regionally competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS administrative certification (SAS, SDA, or SBL) is required. Bilingual candidates who are fluent in Spanish are encouraged to apply.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:At least 5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary levelAt least 3 years of successful experience as a building administratorComprehensive understanding of New York State Learning Standards and elementary curriculum with an emphasis on early literacyCapacity to promote a safe and supportive school environment that fosters the social-emotional and academic development of studentsThorough knowledge of best pedagogical practices in early childhood education and working with a diverse student population including English language learners and students with disabilitiesAbility to effectively supervise and evaluate instruction to enhance student achievementExpertise in leading staff development and using data driven leadership to inform instructional and programmatic changesDetailed knowledge of DASA and its impact on student discipline, along with the ability to exercise fairness and equity when determining behavioral consequencesAbility to engage and work collaboratively with staff, parents, community members, and other stakeholders in support of carrying out the school’s missionExperience with effectively developing schedules, budgets, and various presentationsStrong management, organizational, and problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
