The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for a probationary Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a full-time position which includes a highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Valid NYS Certification (School Psychologist, School Social Worker or School Counselor) is required.PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide individual and group counseling sessions to secondary students struggling with substance use disorders.Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans based on client centered needsUtilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavior managementCollaborate with other professionals, such as social workers, clinical counselors, and psychiatric staff to ensure comprehensive care for clientsAssist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to overcome addictionMonitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessaryCollect and maintain accurate records of client information and treatment progressProvide education and support to clients' families regarding addiction and recoveryStay up-to-date with current research and best practices in addiction counselingContinue education to maintain license and renewalsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in providing substance use and addiction counseling servicesKnowledge of various therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, client centered and applied behavior analysisFamiliarity with behavior management techniques for substance abuse treatmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) experiencePerson Centered Care experienceDialectical behavior therapy (DBT) experienceTrauma Informed Therapy experience Experience in psychoeducation on harm reduction vs abstinence models of treatmentBilingual (fluent in Spanish)
