Position Overview Rockville Centre is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and student-centered educational leader to serve as our Districtwide Special Education Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide instructional, programmatic, and compliance leadership while partnering with administrators, teachers, related service providers, families, and community agencies to ensure exceptional outcomes for students with disabilities. Qualifications Appropriate NYS Certification is required. School Leader (SBL/SAS/SDA) certification preferred. Successful experience chairing CSE meetings at all levels including out of district. Comprehensive knowledge of IDEA, NYS Part 200 Regulations, Section 504, and special education best practices. Demonstrates strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Primary Responsibilities Chair CSE meetings and facilitate compliant, student-centered IEP development. Collaborate with principals, psychologists, teachers, related service providers, families, and outside agencies. Support program implementation including out of district placements, special class programs, Integrated Co-Teaching, related services, and MTSS. Review evaluations and educational data to support eligibility, programming, and service recommendations. Assist with annual reviews, reevaluations, manifestation determinations, transition planning, and preschool-to-school-age transitions. Support Child Study/MTSS processes and provide consultation regarding interventions and referrals. Coach and support special education teachers and related service providers. Promote evidence-based instructional practices including structured literacy, mathematics interventions, and progress monitoring. Support development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans. Analyze program and student data to guide continuous planning and improvement. Provide professional learning at all levels aligned to district initiatives. Coordinate with community agencies and outside providers to support students and families. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education & Pupil Personnel Services. Contract plus applicable stipends. Work Year: School year calendar with an additional ten (10) summer days.
