Term: September 1, 2022- June 30, 2023. Position may become a tenure track position at the conclusion of the year, which will include the 22-23 school year toward tenure.Summary: The Rockville Centre School District is looking for an outstanding student-centered instructional leader to join our talented and dedicated staff as the principal of South Side High School. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of curriculum development, pedagogy, and instructional research to provide the best educational experience for our students. The successful candidate will work closely with both the high school and district-level administration teams to create a safe, healthy and effective learning community for all. The successful candidate will create an environment that welcomes all and celebrates innovation and dynamic teaching. The successful candidate will represent our school at conferences and community events to remain current on all relevant advances in education.Performance Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Collaborate with teachers, parents and students to provide the best education for each student and assist them in their academic and professional goalsCommitted to knowing all students as individuals and learnersParticipate in hiring, training and development of teacher and secondary staff membersLead professional development for staff and encourage evidence-based curriculum and assessment designEstablish curriculum guidelines in collaboration with other administrators and instructors in the school districtOversee the budget process for the buildingOversee building security and all safety protocolsSupervise and evaluate department facilitators, and conduct weekly meetingsEncourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teachingConducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with staff to modify instructional methods to fit all students’ needsEncourages family engagement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and familiesSupervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employeesQualifications:Master’s Degree (minimum)3-5 five years of successful building level administrative experience (Minimum)Appropriate NYS administrative certificate in Educational AdministrationDemonstrated skills in analysis, interpretation and utilization of data to support student learningKnowledge of progressive and innovative instructional methods and educational pedagogyExperience with upstream mental health interventions for students and staffWorking knowledge of International Baccalaureate Programs (preferred)Strong oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent oral and verbal communication skillsProven problem-solving skills Please submit a cover letter, resume, copy of certifications, unofficial transcripts and list of professional references to the attention of Mr. Matthew Gaven, Superintendent of Schools.
