ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTIONSummary: Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction directs and coordinates all curricular and instructional functions of the District. The Assistant Superintendent will report to the Superintendent of Schools and will provide a vision to define and ensure implementation of a well-coordinated curriculum for the District. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the District and building leadership and will aid with the assessment and analysis of student performance data, curriculum development and instructional improvement based on identified needs. The Assistant Superintendent must be capable of leading a team of instructional specialists and have the ability to refine and evaluate instructional programs, inclusive of digital platforms. The Assistant Superintendent will participate in the work of state and national curriculum associations, will interpret the curriculum and its philosophy to the Board, the Administration, Staff and the general public and will perform such other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent. The successful applicant must have the New York State SDA, SDL Administrator Certification, have five (5) years of building and/or district level supervisory experience and be an experienced evaluator of faculty.Start Date: Immediate12-month Position Qualifications:A Master’s Degree (minimum); appropriate NYS administrative certificate in Educational Administration.A minimum of five (5) years administrative experience supervising teachers and overseeing curriculum development. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find applicable.Excellent interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work with people in a leadership capacity.Demonstrated ability to push an organization to examine new ways and processes to reach goals.Demonstrated success in curriculum development and a deep understanding of pedagogy and the application of student performance data.Demonstrated capacity with technology.Ability to effectively organize, set priorities, and coordinate multiple activities at once.Performance Responsibilities:Coordinate and evaluate all instructional programs across the District.Develop curriculum content PK-12; develop and maintain appropriate curriculum review process.Organize and administer PK-12 instructional programs and facilitate program improvement.Maintain awareness and current innovative instructional programs and practices and educational research and introduce them to appropriate teachers and administrators.Prepare curriculum and instructional program-related reports and surveys.Develop methods of assessment by collecting data and analyzing information in order to improve outcomes and monitor implementation in progress.Collaborate with pupil personnel services the curriculum for the PK-12 inclusion program.Plan, develop, direct, and implement the immediate and long-range goals of the District’s instructional program.Recommend instructional program priorities to the Superintendent.Develop and coordinate the sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum and instruction.Work with administration and teachers in organizing and coordinating grade level and departmental meetings in order to affect continuity and articulation of the instructional program.Observe teachers and offer insights for the enhancement of the teaching-learning situation.Study, evaluate, and recommend adoption of new instructional material, methods, and programs, including the use of instructional technology.Coordinate the dissemination of information to staff and community as it relates to the instructional program.Responsible for BOCES services related to the area of instruction, except special education.Participate in policy recommendations related to the instructional program.Plan and supervise the instructional orientation program for new teachers in collaboration with other administrators.Maintain liaison and active participation with educational leaders in curriculum and instruction at local, state, regional, and national levelsSupervise subject area curriculum directors and facilitators.Analyze and interpret achievement data; lead administrative team in developing data-based instructional planning.Assist the Superintendent of Schools or his designees in other areas designated by the Superintendent.Please submit a cover letter, resume, copy of certifications, unofficial transcripts and list of professional references to the attention of Mr. Robert Bartels, Interim Superintendent of Schools.Resumes requested by: June 27, 2022
