Custodial Worker (Substitute)Work Year: 12 months, Per Diem (as needed)This is routine work which primarily involves the cleaning of the interior of buildings and related building fixtures and equipment and may also involve cleaning of building exteriors and grounds. Typical work activities: Cleans and dusts surfaces such as furniture, blinds, window sills, etc.; Maintains floors by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, stripping and refinishing; Washes windows, walls, tables, bathrooms, etc.; Cleans light fixtures and replaces bulbs as needed; Collects and disposes of trash and recyclables; Moves furniture and equipment; Loads and unloads delivery trucks and transports supplies to proper areas; Assists in building maintenance work; Refills soap, toilet paper and paper towel dispensers; Performs exterior maintenance such as mowing lawns, sweeping sidewalks, shoveling snow, etc.; May operate a school bus or van on an incidental or substitute basis if appropriately trained and licensed. Full performance knowledge, skills abilities and personal characteristics: Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to read and communicate in English.
