ANTICIPATED POSITION: Director of Social - Emotional Learning (SEL), English as a New Language (ENL), Community Outreach and Special Programming(Probationary Appointment)SALARY: Per RAA ContractSTART DATE: July 1, 2023REQUIREMENTS: - Valid NYS School District Leader Certification- Valid NYS TESOL Certification- DEI Certificate- Bilingual (Spanish)RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as a resource to teachers, administrators, and other staff to identify best instructional practicesin SEL, ENL and special programs.Works collaboratively to assist teachers with scaffolding instruction in a variety of settings includingone-on-one, small groups, grade level meetings, study groups, workshops, and faculty/staff meetings.Collaborates and consults with various community groups, Institute of Higher Education (IHE) and non-profit organizations to pool resources and support to help families access resources and acclimateto the school community.Ensure the implementation of SEL within daily instruction.Provide professional development.Develop a comprehensive, multi-year organizational SEL strategy with clear goals, and collaboratewith key organizational leaders to execute.Collaborate with Director of Special Education to ensure compliance with student counselingmandates and non-mandated counseling needs.Plan and coordinate family workshop sessions on social emotional learning and mental health forfamilies in collaboration with the Special Education and Counseling departments.Gather and analyze data to identify gaps and evaluate SEL across the school district.Execute systems to ensure all SEL needs are identified with clear next steps, and ensure systems forfollow-up and follow-through.Primary responsibility for K-12 program design for and implementation of the English as a New Language and Special Programs.Works on the district level and directly in the school buildings with teachers of English for Speakers ofOther Languages (ESOL) and classroom teachers to assist with implementing and improving instruction and programs in Stand-Alone, Integrated ENL, bilingual and dual language programs.Implements parent and community outreach initiatives to increase parent involvement and to increase an awareness of the importance of nurturing home language literacy and cultural values supporting ELLs/MLLs educational goals.Facilitates parent communication and/or develops parent resources as needed.Assists instructional staff across curricular areas with implementing District curriculum and programsto ensure accessibility for ELLs/MLLs at all levels.Provides leadership for curriculum and instructional program planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of the English as a New Language and Social Emotional Learning programs.Oversees, facilitates and plans curriculum committee work for ENL, SEL and community outreach.Build a network of external partners and resources to ensure use of evidence-based best practices to meet unique needs of students and families.Create and maintain effective collaboration structures between SEL providers and key stakeholders (families, teachers, students).Build strong systems for data collection and tracking to document needs, services, and progress towards students' social-emotional goals.Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents.Strengthens the relationship between the RCSD and the community.Oversight of MTSS Plan and implementation.Oversight of the implementation of Restorative Practices including, but not limited to:Community building circlesConflict resolutionPeer mediationRestorative circlesFormal restorative conferencingContinued Professional DevelopmentFoster an inclusive environment.Create a supportive and engaging environment by understanding the perceptual, institutional, and psychological processes that impact the ways people interact with each other.Establish successful student engagement initiatives and practices.Oversight of Parent University and Continuing Education programs.All interested applicants may apply through OLAS by May 1, 2023Please address cover letter to:Dr. Lori KoernerAssistant Superintendent forHuman Resources and Elementary Education814 Harrison AvenueRiverhead, NY 11901RIVERHEAD CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
